Sleeping with the Fishes (Paranormal)Mermaids. It’s all about mermaids. Hey, since MaryJanice is so popular, do you think we’ll see a rise in mermaid romances soon? I haven’t read any before. I wonder why? Maybe it’s a fear thing? Beats me.

Onward, loyal readers!

Sleeping With The Fishes is a really funny book. From page one I was hooked and laughing and I didn’t put it down until I finished it. That’s saying something since here lately it’s been taking a lot to get my attention and holding it. I’m jaded I reckon, and need some surprising little things to boost me out of the doldrums.

The heroine of SWTF, Fredrika “Fred” Bimm, is a mermaid who works at an aquarium. She prefers the fishy water there to the fishy water of the ocean where she belongs. (Being a mermaid and all.) She isn’t fun and perky, she is in fact cantankerous and moody, but she’ll win you over. She’s cool. ;-)

One day, unannounced, Artur, Prince of the Black Sea, shows up and says that she must help him figure out what’s up with the ocean. She soooo doesn’t want to help, so she decides to hook him up with the new water guy at the aquarium. Thomas and Artur really don’t like one another because they both have the hots for Fred. Ugh!

Fred’s friend, Jonas, is a riot, too. He shops more than a woman and is always harping at Fred to do something about her split ends. And get this, he’s not gay. Nope. He’s really secure in his masculinity. The woman he loves thinks he’s gay and when she tells him he’ll meet a man one day who will complete him, I thought I was going to snort tea out my nose I started laughing so hard. :-)

Since SWTF is the first book of an ongoing series I will obviously have to pick up the next however many to find out which one of Fred’s admirers she chooses. Will it be Thomas who writes romance novels under a pen name, or Artur who is a Prince, and one of her kind besides?

We shall just have to wait and see.

Later days~
